Solstice and Cheri

winter-boatMy sister Cheri was born a some decades ago on a stormy solstice night.  My mother once told me that her middle name was Gale because she blew into the window during a snow storm.  She is a storm, of goodness, and heart, and compassion.  The Solstice is the perfect time for her to be born.

A Solstice celebration is one of a new beginning, of letting in the opportunity for longer days, more sunlight, perhaps healing, perhaps joy.

My sister is that, she opens her heart to joy, to the opportunity of hope.

I admire her, I love her.  Happy Birthday Cheri, I am glad you are in the world.mom.cheri

Happiest Birth Day to My Maggie

image

Maggie is my first daughter. My foray into the dubious adult world.  She was a tiny little girl, who slept in a laundry basket in my room.
I loved  her before I met her,  knowing her beautiful spirit, knowing her strong heart, her brilliant mind.

Maggie watched me grow up, while I was watching her.  She was my love.

Now she is a mother, among other important life ventures.  And raising, with her incredible husband Devon, two perfect young men.  She raises them well, with that strong heart, beautiful spirit, and brilliant mind.

Happy Birthday My Magpie!  I love you  greatly!

Happy Birthday Sarah Marie

Happy Birthday to my bodacious daughter Sarah.
Your time in this world has been chock-full of adventure, growth, love, and excitement.  ( or was that just what I felt watching you?)

You are strong minded, brilliant, beautiful, kind, and so much more. I am delighted you are here!  I love you!

Day 25

I am grateful for the boys.  For my Andrew and Michael.  2 grandsons who make my heart sing and tickle my mind.  I am watching them grow from tiny babies to tall young men.  I live you guys!

Day 20

Today I had pain, and some amount of anquish, worrying about the world, my friends, hate, intolerance.  So…I packed myself up and fled to Jordan to spend time with my very sane friend Mara.  (Mara, I hope you are not offended by the sane comment)
I needed Mara today, I needed her humor, her consul, and her wickedly fantastic world view.

And…having been the officiant of her and her Robs wedding, and in view of part of today’s discussion I will add #besthusbandever.  ( you get it Mara)

Today I am grateful for Mara.

Day 15

Today I choose my son in law Devon to be grateful for.  Devon your goodness has been evident from the beginning.
I need help and there you are, spending time and hard work…fixi
ng multitudes of car problems, sheet rocking, moving my stuff, carrying heavy stuff.  And…being a wonderful life partner to my daughter Margaret, and father to your sons, my grandboys.  Devon I love you!  Thank you for being!
